Metallurgy 2025 starts this Tuesday and focuses on innovations and technologies for the foundry and steel industries

The 13th edition of the event will be held from October 7 to 10 in Joinville-SC, one of Brazil’s main foundry industry hubs

Held every two years, the 13th Metalurgia – International Technology Fair and Congress for Foundry, Steel, Forging, Aluminum and Services, brings together launches, innovative technologies and services for the foundry chain in Joinville-SC, from Tuesday to Friday, October 7 to 10. There are 240 exhibitors from all regions of Brazil and nine other countries – Germany, Belarus, China, Spain, USA, France, India, Italy and Thailand. The fair occupies 14,000 m² of exhibition space, which represents a 20% increase on the previous edition, held in 2023.

Among the solutions on display are 4.0 technologies, automation, machinery and equipment, furnaces, raw materials, metrology solutions, software and control systems, effluent treatment, heat and surface treatment.

The event’s organizers expect to welcome more than 20,000 professionals, mainly from the 17 Brazilian states with the greatest relevance in the foundry and steelmaking market, as well as from other countries.

“The fair fulfills the role of relationship, business and training, consolidating itself as the most complete B2B marketing investment. Nothing replaces face-to-face and this promises to be the biggest and best fair ever held, with increased business and networking opportunities,” says Richard Spirandelli, director of organizer Messe Brasil.

The event also features a series of simultaneous events such as the Cintec Fundição Congress, organized by Dr. Fundição, with the highlight being technical lectures on process optimization and the use of artificial intelligence applied to the industry.

The program of free workshops promoted by exhibitors, with themes linked to technologies and innovations in the sector, completes the program with 30 lectures.

The Business Roundtable is another important event that brings together buyers and sellers in the sector, with the opportunity to get to know new solutions and suppliers, and to consolidate business deals quickly and easily.

Together, all these activities make Metallurgy a complete event and should attract a highly qualified audience in an environment suitable for business and access to the latest launches and technologies on the market. “This is the only event in the sector in Brazil that, in addition to visiting the fair, offers professional training through lectures and workshops and speed in closing deals through the round,” says Spirandelli.

The location of the event is another favorable point, as it takes place in the center of the most industrialized states in the country, equidistant from the Brazilian metallurgy hubs of RS, PR and SC, and in the city that concentrates one of the main foundries in the world, reasons that ensure its success among exhibitors and professionals in the sector.

Organized by Messe Brasil, Metalurgia counts on the support of FIESC (Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina), ABIMAQ (Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association) and ABINFER (Brazilian Tool Industry Association).

CONGRESS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND THE USE OF AI

CINTEC Fundição – Congress of Innovation and Technology in Foundry, held during Metalurgia, brings together specialists, researchers and companies on October 8 in Joinville (SC). With the aim of presenting trends and solutions to foundry challenges, the congress programme includes technical talks on process optimization and the use of artificial intelligence applied to the industry.

The event will be opened by the director of Doutor Fundição, Fernando Oliveira, with a presentation of the event’s activities. Ricardo Fuoco will then talk about the most important casting defects in the production of automotive wheels in aluminum alloys (A356).

The theme of cast irons will be highlighted by Vinícius Paz, who will discuss the study of gas bubble formation with slag in castings, due to the effect of balancing manganese (Mn) and sulfur (S) in gray cast irons. Ricardo Fuoco returns to the stage to discuss the production of castings in impact-resistant steels, highlighting the processes and heat treatments needed to achieve maximum durability.

Leandro Consul will present two topics on steel casting: practical applications of the AOD converter in steel casting and crack formation in steel castings. The programme continues with André Pereira, who will present the optimization of the Cold-Box process for modern moulding sands. Vinícius Paz returns to the program with a presentation on dross formation in nodular cast iron in casting practice and applications.

The formation of cracks in cast steel parts will be the second approach presented by Leandro Consul. Vinícius Paz returns to the stage to present the study of Dross formation in nodular cast iron in foundry practice and applications.

Quality control will also feature with Fernando Hess Rodrigues, who will discuss the evaluation of casting, heat treatment and welding processes using CQI’s (Continuous Quality Improvement – Special Process Assessment). Tadeu Nascimento de Oliveira presents the study of variables in the riserless method in nodular cast iron.

Closing the program, Eitan Melleras will discuss artificial intelligence applied to the foundry process, showing how algorithms and intelligent systems can support decisions and increase productivity, within the concept of Foundry 4.0.

CINTEC Foundry is organized by the Doutor Fundição platform, a content and networking hub that aims to bring together information on the market, innovation and technology.

BUSINESS ROUNDUP

The Business Roundup brings together buyers and sellers from the segment. In dynamic meetings, suppliers have the opportunity to present their products and services, and buyers have the opportunity to evaluate the offers for their demands. The model makes it possible to consolidate business deals quickly and easily.

Among the buyers are confirmed supply professionals from ArcelorMittal, Cercena, Ciser, Franklin Electric, Igna, Intelbras, Nidec, Romi, Schulz Automotiva and Stara. On the other side, around 50 companies, including exhibitors at the fair, will be showcasing their solutions covering raw materials, machinery, equipment, services and supplies.

The Business Roundtable will be held on Wednesday from 7.45 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Expoville access hall.
